The 2010 New Voices Competition for young writers is under way. Encourage and promote writing for young authors by sharing the news!

Viewpoints are rapidly changing in the publishing industry and our school systems regarding e-publishing. EPIC’s members have been on the forefront of the literacy fight, speaking at schools and conferences, and encouraging evocative and expressive writing from young writers.

EPIC established The New Voices Competition to encourage reading and writing within school systems and libraries. This contest is an opportunity to educate young writers on the e-publishing world, as well as the variety and versatility of e-books. It urges up-and-coming authors to spread their wings, offering the possibility of turning dreams into reality.

New Voices is for middle school and high school students between the ages of 11 and 18. The contest is free and awards winners from Grand Prize to Third Place.

EPIC is ramping up for our annual EBook Competition, one of the premier contests in the e-book and e-publishing world. Please be sure you read ALL of EPIC’s 2010 EBook Competition Guidelines as some of you may be surprised by the changes that have been made to the competition this year:

• Codes and Divisions: Please be sure you understand how this might affect your entry.
• Entries must be an “as sells” e-book with a publication date between October 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009.
• Entries must be submitted in non-DRM PDF format.
• This competition is inclusive for GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bi, and Transexual) works; meaning EVERY category is open for this style of writing.
• EPIC’s EBook Competition will open for submission entries from July 15, 2009 through August 15, 2009 midnight (CST) ONLY.

Mark your calendar for March 4 – 7, 2010, and come join us in New Orleans, Louisiana for EPIC’s Annual Conference. This is an excellent opportunity to mingle with artists, authors, publishers, and industry professionals while learning more about e-books and the e-publishing world. You can be one of the first to learn the competition’s NEW name and see winners accept their awards at EPIC’s Annual Conference Gala Award Ceremony banquet.

Laura begins researching the couple and learns the brooch is a gift the poet gave his wife. Dante, in turn, is having dreams of the couple but narrow-mindedly rejects Laura’s theory that she and Dante were the poet and his wife in a past life and are bound by karma. In the past, the couple’s relationship ended tragically, and now, Laura’s and Dante’s love is endangered by a man obsessed with Laura.

Marsha Briscoe has penned a lovely romance here, relaying the tales of two couples, past and present, with strong emotions for one another, yet dealing with their own personal demons which draw them apart. Briscoe peppers the plot with spine-tingling suspense while offering a charming couple readers will empathize with and root for. Character development is excellent, and the story one that will remain with the reader long after the book is finished.
